Choosing between the Monarc Marker High-Step and Step-Thru starts with how you get on, stop and park the bike. The two frames share the same listed motor, brakes and fat tires. The clearest fit difference is their standover height: 31.4 inches for the High-Step and 22.5 inches for the Step-Thru.
For Tampa Bay errands or regular trips, a comfortable mounting routine matters every time you leave home. Use this comparison to prepare your questions, then check the actual frame with your normal riding shoes. Shared specifications alone do not establish identical handling or guarantee that either frame will fit you.

*Shop prices checked October 28, 2026; prices and package contents may change. Height ranges are manufacturer guidance, not a fit guarantee.
The High-Step has a raised top tube and a manufacturer height guide of 5 feet 4 inches to 6 feet 5 inches. The Step-Thru has a lower opening and a guide of 5 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 3 inches. Riders in the overlapping height range should compare both rather than choose solely from their height.
Standover describes frame clearance when standing over the bike; it is different from saddle height. Leg length, reach, footwear and your preferred way of mounting all affect fit. Ask the shop to help assess clearance and control reach rather than treating a published measurement as a personal safety margin.

2. Consider Your Everyday Mounting Routine
The lower Step-Thru opening may suit someone who wants to step through the frame instead of lifting a leg over a higher top tube. The High-Step may suit someone comfortable with its mounting motion and traditional frame shape. These are practical preferences, not age or gender categories.
Think about the stops that make up your usual trip: getting away from your driveway, parking outside a shop, and putting the bike away afterward. With staff guidance, check whether you can mount, dismount, reach both brake levers and manage the bike at a standstill. A lower frame does not remove the need to balance and handle a full-size bicycle.
3. What Both Markers Share
Both listings specify a Bafang B750 rear hub motor rated at 750W nominal, with 1,638W peak output and 85Nm of torque. Pedal assistance can switch between torque and cadence sensing; torque sensing is the default. Both use a Shimano CUES nine-speed drivetrain.
- 26 × 4-inch Kenda all-terrain tires.
- Gneiss reverse-arch front fork with 80mm travel, preload adjustment and lockout.
- Star Union Talon P4 four-piston hydraulic brakes, with a 203mm front rotor and 180mm rear rotor.
- Fenders, a rear rack, an integrated headlight, and rear lighting with brake-light and turn-signal functions.
These shared components help keep the decision focused on frame access, fit and ownership needs. They are specifications, not results from a Tampa Bay eBikes road test. Follow the bike instructions and the rules for your intended route.

4. Confirm the Battery Package Before Ordering
Monarc labels each removable battery at 720Wh and advertises up to 60 miles per battery. Its up-to-120-mile figure uses two batteries in succession, swapping the spare into the bike rather than drawing from both simultaneously. Actual range varies with assist level, speed, rider and cargo load, terrain, tire pressure and weather.
Monarc now offers two-battery, one-battery and bike-only configurations on its own website. The Tampa Bay eBikes pages checked for this guide list color choices and a $1,999 price, but do not clearly state the battery package. Before buying, ask the shop to confirm the included battery count, charger, selected color and final total. Manufacturer promotions should not be assumed to apply to a local order.
5. Plan Storage, Lifting and Cargo
Both Marker frame styles are full-size and do not fold. Each has a listed bike weight of 87 lb. Do not treat that figure as a bare-frame weight or assume an unverified battery-excluded weight. Discuss the actual configuration and lifting procedure with the shop before planning stairs or vehicle transport.
Measure your doorway, storage area and turning space, including the handlebars and accessories. For a vehicle carrier, verify the actual loaded bike weight, carrier and vehicle limits, tire-tray width, wheelbase and attachment method. Four-inch tires and a Step-Thru frame can require particular carrier provisions; follow the carrier manufacturer’s compatibility instructions.
Monarc lists a 330 lb maximum rider weight, a 66 lb rear-rack limit and a 420 lb gross payload capacity. These limits apply together and are not extra allowances to add to one another. Confirm accessory compatibility and loading instructions; a cargo rating alone does not establish passenger suitability.

6. Bring a Short Fit Checklist
- Wear the shoes you normally ride in and compare the mounting motion of each frame.
- Check frame clearance, seated reach and access to the brake levers and controls.
- Ask for guidance on starting, stopping, pushing and parking the bike.
- Bring your storage measurements and vehicle-carrier model, if relevant.
- Confirm the battery package, color, final price and any setup arrangements.
Prioritize a configuration you can manage on an ordinary day. A photo can explain the frame shape, but it cannot show how the bike fits your reach or how easily you can move it through your own doorway.
7. Common Marker Frame Questions
Does Step-Thru mean less motor power?
No. Both shop listings specify the same 750W nominal Bafang B750 rear hub motor. Choose between them by fit and mounting preference, not an assumed power difference.
Is the Step-Thru lighter?
Both are listed at 87 lb. Its lower opening does not make it a lightweight or folding model.
Are two batteries included locally?
Confirm with Tampa Bay eBikes before checkout. The manufacturer’s current package choices do not establish the contents of a specific shop order.
8. Plan a Tampa Bay Showroom Visit
Contact Tampa Bay eBikes at 4004 S MacDill Ave, Unit 6, Tampa, FL 33611, or call 727-228-1975. Ask which Marker frames and configurations are available to view or try before traveling. Submitting the test-ride form informs the showroom; it does not reserve a bike or appointment.
