Choosing a folding eBike for Tampa Bay starts with the places it needs to fit: your doorway, storage corner, vehicle and daily routine. The Velotric Fold 1 Plus adds seven mechanical gears, front suspension and a low step-through frame. The Lectric XP Lite2 offers a single-speed drivetrain and a lower starting price. Both fold, but that alone does not settle how easily you can lift or store a configured bike.
Start with the equipment you need
These specifications identify differences to check in person. A larger motor rating, wider tire or higher payload figure does not establish which bike will feel better to you. Start with your route, cargo needs and the adjustments you can make comfortably.
*Tampa Bay eBikes prices checked October 30, 2026: Fold 1 Plus $1,499; XP Lite2 $799–$1,099 depending on battery and color. Prices may change; confirm applicable taxes, build or assembly fees and included accessories.

Check storage and lifting separately
The shop lists the Fold 1 Plus folded size as 37.8 × 19.7 × 33.5 inches. Measure your opening as well as the space beyond it: a car trunk lip, closet door or narrow landing may matter as much as the storage area itself. For XP Lite2, ask the shop to measure the exact configured bike before relying on a storage plan.
Do not subtract the published weights and treat the answer as a precise carrying advantage. Velotric lists 63 lb excluding fenders, kickstand and pedals. Lectric lists 41 lb for the complete XP Lite2 with its battery removed; the listed battery weights are 7 lb standard and 8 lb long range. These figures describe different configurations. Try lifting the actual bike you would take home, with assistance when needed.

Compare mounting, reach and fit
Fold 1 Plus uses a low step-through opening; the manufacturer lists a 400mm standover height and rider guidance of 4 ft 9 in to 6 ft 5 in. XP Lite2 has a higher main frame tube and suggested rider guidance of 4 ft 8 in to 6 ft 2 in. Height ranges are starting points, not fit guarantees.
Check saddle adjustment, handlebar reach, brake-lever access and the space you need to mount and dismount. Ask staff to demonstrate the frame and stem folding procedure, latch checks and cable clearance. A compact parked shape does not guarantee a comfortable fit while riding.
Separate pedal sensing from mechanical gears
Fold 1 Plus has a 750W nominal rear hub motor, 75Nm of listed torque and seven mechanical gears. Its SensorSwap system offers torque or cadence sensing. XP Lite2 uses a 300W nominal rear hub motor, 819W advertised peak and 28Nm, with a cadence sensor and Lectric PWR programming. Its five assist levels do not change its single mechanical gear.
The Fold’s shifter changes the pedal gearing; an assist selector changes motor support. Try the controls and pedaling rhythm rather than choosing from wattage alone. XP Lite2 uses a chain in Arctic White and other listed colors, while JW Black uses a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Confirm the selected color and battery configuration before ordering.

Treat range as a planning estimate
Fold 1 Plus has a listed 608Wh battery and manufacturer maxima of up to 68 miles with pedal assist or 45 miles on throttle. Velotric identifies a 187 lb rider using PAS 1 in Eco mode on flat roads for its pedal-assist estimate. XP Lite2 offers 375Wh standard and 672Wh long-range batteries, with advertised maxima of up to 45 and 80 miles respectively.
Those numbers are not results from a shared comparison test. Rider and cargo weight, speed, assist setting, terrain and weather change range. Leave a useful reserve for your own trips and discuss charging access. The longest advertised number does not automatically identify the best battery choice for your routine.
Look at the complete everyday setup
Fold 1 Plus combines 20 × 3-inch tires and a 60mm suspension fork with lockout. XP Lite2 uses 20 × 2.5-inch tires and a rigid steel fork. Both list hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors. These are equipment differences; they do not promise a particular comfort or stopping result on your route.
Fold 1 Plus includes fenders, an integrated rear rack, lighting with rear turn signals, a 3.5-inch color display and Apple Find My support. Tracking is not a theft guarantee. Its 450 lb total payload and 120 lb rack limit apply together, not as added capacities. XP Lite2’s total payload is 275 lb. Check compatible rack and accessory limits separately, and confirm any optional equipment rather than assuming manufacturer-direct promotional gifts are included locally.

Questions to bring to the showroom
Which would suit frequent car loading? Start with an assisted lift and a fit check using your actual storage dimensions. Can the XP Lite2 change mechanical gears? No: its single-speed drivetrain is separate from its five motor-assist levels. Does the Fold 1 Plus have only torque sensing? No: the current manufacturer page lists SensorSwap torque and cadence modes.
Are either bike’s advertised miles guaranteed? No. Does folding mean the bike fits every vehicle? No. A short checklist covering storage, lift, mounting, reach and equipment gives you more useful information than a universal winner.
Plan your Tampa Bay visit
Tampa Bay eBikes lists its South Tampa showroom at 4004 S MacDill Ave, Unit 6, Tampa, FL 33611. Call 727-228-1975 before traveling to confirm current hours, the exact bikes available to view and any test-ride arrangements. A contact-form submission does not reserve a bike or a time.
Bring your storage measurements, expected rider-plus-cargo load and a list of accessories you want. The shop can help you compare the configured Fold 1 Plus and XP Lite2, including battery choice, fit and the final purchase total.
